WELCOME TO ADVENTIST SECONDARY TECHNICAL COLLEGE OWERRINTA
Adventist Secondary Technical College, Owerrinta, is a Seventh-day Adventist Church Secondary School established in this place in 1993, with a mission:
Providing our young people the best secondary level education that will develop their mental, spiritual, physical and social powers to meet the challenges of higher education and self-reliance in this world and prepare them for the world we are expecting.
It is a mission to provide an all-round education that caters for the development of the student:
Mentally, by working on the development of the thinking and reasoning faculties to grasp and assimilate facts and processes; to make our students ‘thinkers and not mere reflectors of other men’s thinking’ (White, 1905).
Physically, by consciously exposing the learner to the different physical activities that will not only help him to be useful to himself but also help him to maintain optimum physical health;
Socially, by providing a mixed environment where male and female students interact to develop healthy social relationships that will prepare them to take a right place in their society and be agents of social adjustment and service to their fellow men and women; nurturing an intelligent dedication to the work of God on earth and developing a practical preparation for conscientious service to God and to their fellow men and women;
Spiritually, by providing a religious background that will enable the student take positive steps towards restoring man to the image of his Maker by leading him to accept Jesus Christ, the Master Teacher, as Lord and personal savior, and to submit themselves to divine will and grace through which they can grow as true, regenerated Christians. These are the basic goals of Adventist education at all times. So, we focus our training efforts here towards bringing up young men and women who will value whatever is excellent in their various callings and grow up to become first among equals in all spheres of human activity and be worthy candidates for heaven.
In the light of this, we engage our students in serious academic drills and moral instructions sparsed with appropriate practical skills and work-study programs. We also expose them to extracurricular outdoor learning experiences within and outside our school premises through excursion visits to places of relevant interests; engage them in regular worship services and supervised social interactions that help them to develop appropriate social relationships relative to their age, so that when they leave here, they will be able to make their expected impact in the society and be useful to themselves and their families and communities they are part of.
